2016 NBA All-Star Game and Slam Dunk Odds

The NBA may be taking a break from games over All-Star weekend, but basketball bettors don’t need to take time off thanks to prop bets on the All-Star events. Think you know who will win the slam dunk, three-point, and skills competitions? Online sportsbook Bovada has odds for all of them.

We’ll start with the slam dunk contest. Minnesota’s Zach LaVine is back to defend his title and he’s the favorite at Bovada at -300. Challenging LaVine will be Orlando’s Aaron Gordon, Denver’s Will Barton, and Detroit’s Andre Drummond. All three will be making their dunk contest debut.

According to the oddsmakers the one with the best chance of unseating LaVine is Gordon at +400. Barton is close behind at +550, and Drummond is the longshot at +850.

In the three-point shootout Stephen Curry heads to Toronto looking to win for the second straight year. Curry, an even-money favorite in the event at Bovada, will be taking part for the sixth time, but last year was his first and only win. He leads the field in three-point baskets this season with 245 while shooting 45.4 percent from behind the arc.

Other than Curry the only other players in the field that have taken part in the three-point shootout before are J.J. Redick, Klay Thompson and James Harden. They all lost to Curry last year in their first crack at the competition.

Thompson is the favorite to unseat Curry this year at +400, followed by Redick at +500. Harden is farther down the list at +1200. In the shootout field Redick has the best three-point shooting percentage this season at 47.6 and Harden has the worst at 35.5.

And in the skills competition Boston’s Isaiah Thomas is the favorite at +240 at Bovada. A point guard has won this competition 11 of the last 13 years so that should not come as a surprise. Also getting good odds to win the challenge are C.J. McCollum at +350, Draymond Green at +400, and Jordan Clarkson at +650.

Patrick Beverley was supposed to be in Toronto to defend his title from a year ago, but he suffered an ankle injury Wednesday night and will miss the event. The longshots to take the skills competition title are the big men in the field, DeMarcus Cousins (+1000), Anthony Davis (+1200), and Karl-Anthony Towns (+1500).
