2020 MLB MVP Futures Odds

Will there be a repeat MLB MVP winner for the first time since 2013, or will two different players from the American League and National League take MVP honors in 2020?

We’ll start our look at the MLB MVP futures odds in the AL where Mike Trout is a big favorite at EVEN money at Bovada Sportsbook. Trout has been the MVP favorite heading into the season for years, but surprisingly the three-time MVP has never won back-to-back MVP awards.

Following Trout on the AL MVP odds are a pair of New York Yankees with Aaron Judge at +950 and Gleyber Torres at +1200.

Judge, the 2017 MVP runner-up, has dealt with consecutive injury-shortened seasons. If he can finally stay healthy for a whole season and regain his 2017 form, he could keep Trout from snagging another MVP.

Torres is an interesting choice at +1200. Last year in his sophomore season he put up huge numbers including 38 home runs, but he finished well back in 17th place in the MVP voting. Can Torres outshine Judge and other Yankees teammates like Giancarlo Stanton and Gerrit Cole to get MVP consideration?

Scandal may hinder Bregman’s AL MVP bid

Next in line is Alex Bregman, who was runner-up in MVP voting last season. You may forget that Bregman was only 20 points behind Trout in the voting. However, it may be difficult for any Astros player to get MVP votes this season with the sign-stealing scandal still leaving a bad taste in people’s mouths.

If you’re looking for a few value picks on the AL MVP odds, standouts include Matt Chapman at +2000, Anthony Rendon at +2500 and Gerrit Cole at +3000.

Over in the NL, Mookie Betts’ trade to the Los Angeles Dodgers has made him the NL MVP favorite at +350. Betts, the 2018 AL MVP, may not need much time to adjust to the NL as he’s posted a .921 OPS against NL teams in interleague play through his career.

Following Betts on the NL odds are Ronald Acuna Jr. at +550 and Christian Yelich at +700.

Acuna Jr. second to Betts in NL MVP odds

Acuna Jr. has already been touted by some as the heir apparent to Trout as MLB’s best player. He just missed out on a 40-40 season a year ago in just his second campaign so the best may be yet to come for Acuna.

Yelich had a chance at back-to-back MVP awards last year before injury cut his season short. If he can remain healthy all season, he should be among the MVP contenders again.

Reigning MVP Cody Bellinger is an underdog to repeat this season at +1000. Some experts wonder if Bellinger would have won the MVP race last season had Yelich not gotten hurt. Now he’s not even the top MVP candidate on his own team.

A few value picks on the NL MVP odds include Bryce Harper at +1400, Freddie Freeman at +1800 and Kris Bryant at +2200.
