John Deere Classic Betting Odds Preview

Bettors have a lackluster field to pick through this week when the PGA Tour heads to TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois, for the John Deere Classic.

Following the withdrawal of Daniel Berger, there isn’t a single golfer ranked in the top 50 in this week’s field. At Bovada Sportsbook, the favorite in the John Deere is now Webb Simpson at +1200.

Simpson tops oddsboard for John Deere Classic

Simpson is currently ranked 58th in the world and hasn’t really contended in any tournaments in 2022. Last week, he tied for 13th place in the Travelers Championship, which marked his best finish so far this year.

Following Simpson on the odds list at Bovada are Adam Hadwin at +1600, Sahith Theegala at +2200 and Maverick McNealy and Patrick Rodgers, both at +2800. All of them are looking for their first win on the tour this year.

Hadwin tied for seventh at the U.S. Open and has four top-10 finishes this year. His best finish this season came in the Valero Texas Open in April when he tied for fourth.

Theegala coming off strong showing at Travelers

Theegala has had a bit of a mini breakthrough lately. Last week, he tied for second place in the Travelers Championship, two shots back of winner Xander Schauffele. He also tied for fifth in the Memorial Tournament three weeks earlier.

McNealy will be looking to get his game back on track this week after missing consecutive cuts in the Travelers Championship and the Charles Schwab Challenge. He has only one top-10 finish this season, in the Genesis Invitational in February when he tied for seventh.

Rodgers last played in the U.S. Open where he tied for 31st place. This year he has one top-10 finish in the Mexico Open, where he placed 10th, and he’s missed the cut six times.

Glover shot 19 under to win tournament last year

The defending champion of the John Deere Classic is Lucas Glover. Last year Glover shot 19 under par to finish two strokes ahead of Ryan Moore and Kevin Na. Glover is a +4000 underdog to repeat as champ. Moore, who won the John Deere in 2016, is listed at +10000, while Na is no longer playing on the PGA Tour after leaving the tour for LIV Golf.

Aside from Glover, other former John Deere winners in the field this week are 2019 winner Dylan Frittelli (+6600), 2012 winner Zach Johnson (+8000) and Steve Stricker (+6600), who won the John Deere three straight years from 2009 to 2011.
