Mayweather vs. McGregor Betting Preview

Boxing and MMA finally collide this weekend with the long-awaited bout between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor. The hype has been through the roof, but bettors aren’t worried about the fight itself as long as it delivers a winning result for their bankroll.

The betting options for the fight at the Bovada Sportsbook are immense. The list of Mayweather vs. McGregor betting props may be the closest thing you’ll get to the Super Bowl this year. Before we launch into the props list, though, let’s first look at the latest odds on the fight.

Mayweather has been the fight favorite since it was announced and that hasn’t changed as you’ll find him at the Bovada Sportsbook listed at -400. That is quite a steep drop from the -7000 odds he opened at a few months ago at some shops. McGregor has seen his odds improve up to +300. In his first professional boxing match against a fighter that has never lost and has only been knocked down once, McGregor appears to have a tough battle to notch a win.

A bettor could make a ton of cash on the fight if he can deduce in which round it will end. The prop list is jammed with numerous wagers on which round will be the last. These props include picking a single round or picking from a group of rounds such as 1-3, 4-6, 7-9 or 10-12.

In the single round prop where any result goes, the favorites are surprisingly 1,2 and 3 all listed at +800. The higher the round the higher the odds all the way up to round 12 which is the underdog at +1800. You can also bet on the fight going the distance at +200, which could be the smart move since Mayweather’s last seven fights have all gone to the final bell of the 12th.

One of the more interesting prop bets available are for punches landed. At the Bovada Sportsbook for Mayweather there’s only one total punches landed prop with the total set at 105.5. The OVER is favored at -160 while the UNDER comes in at +115.

For McGregor there’s a ton of punches landed props with the totals ranging from as low as 31.5, up to 100.5. If you think 31.5 is low you may want to check the history of Mayweather’s fights. For example, when he fought Manny Pacquiao, Pacquiao landed only 81 of his 429 punches. If a fighter of Pacquiao’s experience and pedigree only landed 81, can McGregor even come close to that?
