MLB Betting: Angels Seek To Reverse Slide

The struggling Los Angeles Angels could be in trouble Tuesday night as they kick off a three-game series with the surging Seattle Mariners.

The Angels head into Tuesday’s series opener a lousy 2-7 in their last nine games. They’re also a pathetic 3-11 in their last 14 road games. Seattle is on a seven-game winning streak, following back-to-back series sweeps of the Kansas City Royals and Baltimore Orioles.

On Tuesday the Angels will look to starter Andrew Heaney (4-5, 3.95) to get them back on track. In his last start against the Boston Red Sox, he was shelled for six runs on eight hits in 3.1 innings. Somehow he escaped with a no-decision, but the Angels lost 9-6 as a +140 underdog in MLB betting at Bovada Sportsbook.

Heaney faced Seattle in mid-June and took the loss, allowing five runs on seven hits in three innings. Pitching on the road hasn’t agreed with Heaney this season, as he is 0-3 with a 6.14 ERA compared with a 4-2 record and 2.18 ERA at home.

Getting the ball for Seattle on Tuesday will be Wade LeBlanc (3-0, 3.38). In his last start, he posted a no-decision against Baltimore after giving up four runs on seven hits in 5.2 innings. Seattle won 8-7 as a +100 underdog. LeBlanc faced Los Angeles in June and led the Mariners to a 5-3 win as +100 underdogs, allowing two runs on four hits in five innings.

In six games between Seattle and Los Angeles this season, the Mariners have the edge with a 4-2 record.

Dodgers 1-5 in Kershaw’s last six

Also on tap Tuesday night, the Los Angeles Dodgers will have Clayton Kershaw (1-4, 2.84) on the mound when they face Ivan Nova (4-5, 4.02) and the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Dodgers are a surprisingly bad 1-5 in Kershaw’s last six starts. Last time out against the Cubs, Kershaw posted a no-decision after allowing one run on four hits in five innings. The Dodgers lost 11-5 as a -180 favorite. Kershaw is 2-3 with a 3.18 ERA in 11 career starts against Pittsburgh.

Nova is coming off a no-decision against the New York Mets in which he allowed three runs on five hits in six innings. The Pirates won 5-3 as a +110 underdog. In two career starts against the Dodgers, Nova is 1-0 with a 2.31 ERA.

In early June the Dodgers took two of three against the Pirates and they’re 8-2 against Pittsburgh in their last 10.
