NCAAB Betting: No. 1 Duke Hosts UNC

Two of college basketball’s biggest rivals meet up Wednesday night when the Duke Blue Devils play host to the North Carolina Tar Heels.

The Blue Devils are the top-ranked team in the nation and head into Wednesday on a nine-game winning streak. The streak hasn’t meant big profits for bettors, though, as they were only 5-4 against the spread. Last time out they beat up on the NC State Wolfpack 94-78 as a 17-point favorite at Bovada Sportsbook. At home Duke has won its last five games but is only 2-3 ATS.

The Tar Heels are coming off a 95-57 blowout win over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons as a 16.5-point favorite. They’re 8-1 straight up and 6-3 ATS in their last nine games. On the road they’re won six straight SU and ATS.

North Carolina will likely be an underdog in this one, something the Tar Heels have only been twice this season. In those two games they were 1-1 SU and ATS. Going back further, in the last 13 as an underdog, North Carolina is 2-11 SU and 2-10-1 ATS.

This is the first matchup this season between North Carolina and Duke. In their last five matchups, the Tar Heels are 3-2 SU and 2-2-1 ATS. However, at Duke the Blue Devils are 5-1 SU and 3-3 ATS in the last six.

Butler has won last two at Marquette as underdog

Also on tap Wednesday night, a pair of Big East matchups highlight the schedule, starting with the Butler Bulldogs at the Marquette Golden Eagles.

The Bulldogs are 3-1 SU and 2-1-1 ATS in their last four games. In their last 11, they’re a lackluster 5-6 SU and 5-5-1 ATS. Butler has struggled mightily on the road this season and in its last 11 games is 2-9 SU and 3-7-1 ATS.

Marquette is on a solid run right now at 10-1 SU and 8-3 ATS in its last 11. At home the Golden Eagles have been nearly unbeatable at 15-1 SU and 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games.

On January 30, Marquette defeated Butler 76-58 as a 3-point road underdog. That loss snapped Butler’s five-game winning streak both SU and ATS vs the Golden Eagles. At Marquette, the Bulldogs have won their last two games, both as the underdog.

Hoyas have been bad bet at home this season

The other notable Big East clash on Wednesday is the Villanova Wildcats at the Georgetown Hoyas.

Villanova is coming off a 71-65 upset loss against the St. John’s Red Storm as a 4-point favorite. Even with that loss, the Wildcats are 12-2 SU and 10-4 ATS in their last 14, and on the road they’re 6-1 ATS in their last seven.

Georgetown is 3-5 SU and ATS in its last eight and has been an awful bet at home this season at 4-10-1 ATS.

On February 3, Villanova defeated Georgetown 77-65 as an 11.5-point favorite. That was the Wildcats’ ninth straight win over the Hoyas, during which they are 6-3 ATS.
