NFL Week 11 Odds

There were plenty of shocking outcomes in Week 10 of the NFL season - some that even left football bettors scratching their heads in disbelief.

A good indication of whether a team’s performance was real or fake is to look at their odds for this upcoming week. Are the bookmakers buying into it, and if so, should you?

One team that stunned NFL fans this past weekend were the New England Patriots. After getting taken to school by the Cleveland Browns two weeks ago, the Patriots rebounded with wire-to-wire domination of the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football. New England exploded out of the gate for a 39-26 victory as a 4.5-point road pup to improve to 7-2 (5-3-1 ATS) on the year.

This weekend, oddsmakers have set the Pats as 3-point home chalk hosting the rival Indianapolis Colts. That number seems to be on the nose, with no early movement, and shows that books are past what happened versus the Browns.

Here are some other telling pointspreads in Week 11:

Atlanta Falcons at St. Louis Rams (+3, 43.5 at Sportsbook.com)

It looks like the only thing a win over the Baltimore Ravens will buy you is three points of respect. Oddsmakers have set the Atlanta Falcons, the NFC’s top team, as only 3-point faves visiting the St. Louis Rams, once considered the worst team in football.

Granted, the Rams have played well in the past few weeks and have covered in four straight games. But they’re coming off an overtime loss to the San Francisco 49ers – another horrible team – and sit 4-5 in the NFL’s weakest division.

Buy this line now before it’s too late. The short spread may smell like a trap line, but in reality the Falcons will cover this at least four times over before the whistle blows in St. Louis on Sunday afternoon.

Chicago Bears at Miami Dolphins (-3, 39.5 at Sportsbook.com)

Want to see a win that doesn’t mean much to oddsmakers? Just take a look at the three points books are handing the Bears for Thursday night despite their 27-13 win over the Minnesota Vikings as 1-point home faves.

And to add insult to underdogs, Miami should be without both its No. 1 and No. 2 quarterbacks, leaving snaps to third-stringer Tyler Thigpen. The Dolphins will also have an injured left tackle with Jake Long expected to play regardless of the dislocated shoulder suffered in last Sunday’s 29-17 win over the Tennessee Titans. That game also happened to be Miami’s lone win at home, bumping it to 2-2 ATS inside Sun Life Stadium.

This number immediately drew action on Chicago, moving it as low as -1 at some books. Depending on how practice goes for Thigpen and the Fins’ first team during this short week, as well as the status of Long, the number could end up favoring the Bears by kickoff Thursday night.
