NFL Week 9 Slate: Best Betting Matchups

Are the Oakland Raiders for real? After posting back-to-back wins Oakland will try to quiet the doubters on Sunday when they visit Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers.

The oddsmakers at online sportsbook 5Dimes aren’t believers quite yet as they have listed Oakland as a 4-point road underdog. The Raiders were a 3-point underdog last week when they defeated the Jets 34-20. Derek Carr picked apart the Jets’ defense with four touchdowns and 333 yards passing.

Pittsburgh welcomed back quarterback Ben Roethlisberger last week, but they still lost to Cincinnati 16-10 as a 1-point favorite. Roethlisberger looked a little rusty in his first game back from a knee injury with a touchdown and three interceptions. Even worse than the loss was a season-ending injury to running back Le’Veon Bell.

Somewhat surprisingly the Raiders have won their last two games against Pittsburgh, both as the underdog. In their last five games against the Steelers the Raiders are 4-1 SU and in their last six they are 5-1 ATS.

Also on tap Sunday, Miami takes on Buffalo in what might be a must-win game for both sides if they hope to remain in the running for a playoff spot.

The Dolphins were on the rise before they came crashing back down to earth last week. Miami was an 8-point underdog against the Patriots and got hammered 36-7. Ryan Tannehill had a rough game with no touchdowns and two interceptions.

Buffalo is coming off their bye and the last time they took the field they lost to Jacksonville 34-31 as a 3-point favorite. EJ Manuel had two touchdowns and two interceptions, but he’ll be back on the sidelines this week with Tyrod Taylor expected back.

In Week 3 Buffalo beat up on Miami 41-14 as a 1-point road underdog. In the rematch Buffalo is a 3-point home favorite at online sportsbook Bovada. In their last five meetings Buffalo is 4-1 both SU and ATS. At home the Bills have won three straight against the Dolphins both SU and ATS.

In Indianapolis this weekend Peyton Manning comes home again when the Colts host the Broncos.
The undefeated Broncos may be visiting, but they’re a 5-point favorite at 5Dimes. Last week Denver upset Green Bay 29-10 as a 2.5-point underdog. The defense held the Packers in check, allowing them to gain only 140 total yards of offense.

The Colts lost to Carolina 29-26 in overtime as a 5-point underdog last week. Andrew Luck had two touchdown passes and three costly interceptions. The loss was the Colts’ third in a row, during which they are 2-1 ATS.

Denver is on a seven game winning streak with a 5-1-1 ATS record. They’re also a strong 9-2 SU and 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 as a road favorite. Don’t totally discount the Colts. Indianapolis has a very impressive 9-1 record SU and 10-0 ATS in their last 10 games as an underdog at home.
