Showdown Saturday in Week 6 of College Football Season

Sports bettors have enjoyed a few juicy head-to-head matchups in the first few weeks of the college football season, but things really heat up this Saturday with 5Dimes releasing its betting odds for six different showdowns between nationally ranked teams in the latest AP Top 25.

While half of the showdowns are in the SEC, a few of the other major conferences in the country step to the plate as well. There is also one of the best rivalries in all of college football on tap this Saturday.

Starting in the Big 12, the No. 4 Oklahoma Sooners will look to enhance their position as one of the top favorites to land a spot in this season’s four-team playoff against No. 25 TCU. Oklahoma comes into this conference clash as a 5-point road favorite on the 5Dimes betting odds after posting a 4-0 straight-up (3-1 against the spread) record in its first four games. The total for this contest has been set 56.5. The Sooners are 4-1 ATS in their last five games as road favorites and the Horned Frogs are 1-7 ATS in their last eight conference games at home.

The next showdown takes us to the Big Ten where No. 19 Nebraska goes on the road to square off against No. 10 Michigan State. The betting odds in this conference matchup have the Spartans favored by a touchdown with the total set at 58. The Cornhuskers are off to a solid 5-0 start SU and they have gone a profitable 4-1 ATS. Michigan State lost to Oregon 46-27 in Week 2 as a 14-point road underdog, but it has won and covered in its other three games. The Spartans have lost four of the last five meetings against Nebraska both SU and ATS, but they are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games as favorites at home.

The Pac-12 Stanford Cardinal, which are ranked No. 14 in the latest AP poll, will renew an ongoing rivalry against No. 9 Notre Dame this Saturday afternoon in South Bend. The Fighting Irish have been listed by 5Dimes as slight 2-point underdogs and the total has been set at 44.5. Stanford is 3-1 SU with a 2-2 record ATS and Notre Dame is a perfect 4-0 SU with a 3-1 mark ATS. Looking back at the betting trends in this series, the Irish are 6-1 SU in the last seven meetings at home and the total stayed UNDER in six of these games.
