Sports Betting Weekend: Summer Schedule

The red hot Texas Rangers will look to keep piling up wins this weekend when they play host to the Boston Red Sox.

The Rangers owned Boston last season and sport a 5-1 record in their last six matchups. At home the Rangers have won three straight and eight of their last 11 against the Red Sox. Despite both teams boasting some big bats the UNDER has been the smart play here at 7-1 in the last eight.

Staying in the American League, the AL Central-leading Cleveland Indians head to Detroit this weekend to face the Tigers in a divisional matchup. Cleveland is a perfect 6-0 against Detroit so far this season and in their last 10 they’re 9-1 against them. For totals bettors the OVER has paid off here, at 7-2 OVER in the last nine.

In the National League the Los Angeles Dodgers visit the Pittsburgh Pirates hoping to improve on some poor results against them recently. Last season the Pirates owned the Dodgers with a 7-1 record against them. Pittsburgh is also 11-3 in their last 14 against Los Angeles and at home they’ve won five straight and eight of 10.

Week 1 in the CFL continues this weekend north of the border with one game Friday night and a pair on Sunday.

Friday night’s matchup sees the Montreal Alouettes take on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. At online sportsbook Bovada Winnipeg is a 3-point favorite and they’re 5-1 straight up and 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six versus Montreal.

Saturday’s games begin with a Grey Cup rematch between the Ottawa RedBlacks and Edmonton Eskimos. Edmonton is a 6.5-point home favorite. The Eskimos have win eight straight against Ottawa, including last year’s Grey Cup. However, Edmonton is only 2-6 ATS in those eight wins.

The other Saturday matchup is the Calgary Stampeders at the BC Lions with Calgary a 4-point road favorite. Calgary has won five straight against the Lions with a 4-1 ATS mark.

NASCAR ditches the oval this week for the first road race of the season, the Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway. Kyle Bush won at Sonoma for the second time in his career last year and he’s the only driver in the field to claim the checkered flag more than once on the track.
