UConn Battles Kentucky in Title Game Betting on Monday

This year’s NCAA Tournament is down to the final two teams in the highest combined seeded championship game in the history of the event. The No. 7 Connecticut Huskies and the No. 8 Kentucky Wildcats will square off against one another this Monday night in Arlington, Texas in the national title game.

Connecticut made its way through the East Region with solid victories over No. 2 Villanova, No. 3 Iowa State and No. 4 Michigan State. The Huskies then had the formidable task of playing No. 1 Florida in the Final Four to try and advance to their second title game in the last four years. They beat the Gators for the second time this season with a 63-53 victory this past Saturday as 7-point underdogs on the Bovada closing betting odds for this game. The total stayed UNDER the 127-point closing betting line.

It has been a profitable run for Connecticut at 7-1 both straight-up and against the spread going back to its first game in this year’s American Athletic Conference Tournament. The total stayed UNDER in five of those eight contests.

Kentucky made its way through a series of ups and downs this season to land the eighth seed in the Midwest Region after posting an overall SU record of 24-10 through the SEC Tournament. It immediately caught everyone’s attention with a 78-76 victory over No. 1 Wichita State as a 4.5-point underdog. The betting odds against Louisville in their next game in the Sweet 16 were the same, but the Wildcats upended their rivals 74-69. Tack on wins over Michigan and Wisconsin from the Big Ten as a slight favorite in its last two games and Kentucky now finds itself in its 12th National Championship Game, which is tied for the most in NCAA Tournament history.

The Wildcats’ win over the Badgers ended as a PUSH on the closing betting line after they had covered ATS in their previous seven games. The total has gone OVER in their last four outings.

The betting odds for Monday's showdown opened with Kentucky favored by 2.5 points over Connecticut and that has held steady on the Bovada board ever since. The total is set at 134.5 points.
