The game of the week then takes place on Saturday, as No. 2 Alabama takes on No. 8 Michigan at Cowboys Stadium; the Crimson Tide are pegged as 13-point favorites at the sportsbooks for that contest. No. 1 USC (-39.5) hosts Hawaii, No. 3 LSU (-43) gets a visit from North Texas, No. 4 Oklahoma (-30.5) is at UTEP, and No. 5 Oregon rounds out the Top 5 action as they sit as the 35.5-point home favorite against Arkansas State.

The National Football League's exhibition slate wraps up on Wednesday and Thursday this week, with the Giants hosting the Patriots in a Super Bowl rematch on Wednesday night. The U.S. Open gets underway on Monday in New York, with Novak Djokovic the 3/2 favorite over Roger Federer (5/2) and Andy Murray (4/1) to win the men's draw at the tournament. Juan Martin Del Potro (10/1) and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (28/1) are farther down that list. Over in the women's draw Serena Williams is the 1/1 favorite on the odds to win the U.S. Open, with Maria Sharapova sitting at 6/1 odds to claim the title.

The FedExCup playoffs continue on the PGA Tour this week, with the Deutsche Bank Championship being contested at TPC Boston from Friday to Monday. As well, the Sprint Cup Series offers up NASCAR betting at the AdvoCare 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday, and Formula 1 returns to the track with the Belgium Grand Prix.
