Week 2 NFL Betting

NFC North rivals will meet on the gridiron in Green Bay on Thursday night as the NFL kicks off the second week of its season, which includes a top NFC matchup in San Francisco on Sunday night. As well, Alabama will be looking to thump a reeling SEC rival in college football action, while the pennant races continue around Major League Baseball, and the Chase for the Sprint Cup finally gets underway for NASCAR bettors.

Aaron Rodgers and the Packers will play host to the Chicago Bears on Thursday night, with the trends working in Green Bay's favor for the contest – they've won four straight games SU and three straight games ATS against Chicago, and they're 7-3 both SU and ATS over their past 10 games against the Bears. The UNDER was 2-8 in those games.

Sunday afternoon's schedule for NFL bettors is then Tampa Bay at the Giants, Cleveland at Cincinnati, Oakland at Miami, Kansas City at Buffalo, Baltimore at Philadelphia, Minnesota at Indianapolis, Arizona at New England, New Orleans at Carolina, Houston at Jacksonville, Washington at St. Louis, Tennessee at San Diego, the Jets at Pittsburgh, and Dallas at Seattle. The Cowboys, coming off a Week 1 road upset win over the Giants, have covered in five of their last six against the Seahawks.

On Sunday night it's then Detroit at San Francisco, with the Lions last beating the Niners back in 1995 – they're 0-8 SU and 1-5-2 ATS against San Francisco since that last victory. The Falcons will then play host to the Broncos on Monday Night Football.

In college football the top matchup for Saturday was supposed to be Alabama at Arkansas, but that game lost some of its lustre when the Razorbacks suffered a 34-31 upset loss against Louisiana-Monroe over the weekend; Arkansas quarterback Tyler Wilson was injured in that contest and didn't play in the second half. Alabama has outscored Michigan and Western Kentucky 76-14 over its two wins so far this season, and they're 3-1 ATS in their past four games against Arkansas dating back to 2008.

Other notable games around college football on Saturday include Southern Cal at Stanford and Notre Dame at Michigan State, while LSU will be at home against Idaho.

On the diamond early this week the American League playoff races take center stage as the Angels play host to the Athletics, the Tigers are in Chicago, and the Orioles tangle with the Rays in Baltimore. The Orioles are just 4-6 over their past 10 games against the Rays, with the OVER/UNDER 3-7 in those contests. Key NL series take place this weekend, including Washington at Atlanta, San Francisco at Arizona, and St. Louis at the Dodgers, with the Cards and Los Angeles both in the NL Wild Card race.

Finally, NASCAR bettors get the start of the Chase for the Sprint Cup in the Geico 400 at Chicagoland Speedway on Sunday afternoon. Denny Hamlin, Jimmie Johnson, Tony Stewart, Brad Keselowski, Greg Biffle, Clint Bowyer, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Matt Kenseth, Kevin Harvick, Martin Truex Jr., Kasey Kahne, and Jeff Gordon are the playoff field.
