Week 8 Sunday NFL Betting Preview

The New York Jets are under .500 on the season, but they've been the best wager amongst the AFC East teams so far in 2012. The Jets will play host to the division-rival Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon as we look at the betting action on the schedule for Week 8 of the NFL season.

The Jets are just 3-4 so far in 2012, and they're coming off a 29-26 loss to the New England Patriots last week. However, New York is also a lucrative 5-2 ATS on the season, and one of those covers came back in Week 2 when they beat the Dolphins by a score of 23-20 in Miami as a 2.5-point favorite.

The Dolphins enter Week 8 at 3-3 straight up and against the spread on the season, and they're listed as 1-point road underdogs against the Jets on the NFL betting lines at 5Dimes. Miami and New York have split their last 10 meetings 5-5 both SU and ATS, with the OVER/UNDER going 1-3 over their last four matchups.

The Patriots will try to follow up their win over the Jets with a victory against the Rams on Sunday afternoon, with those teams set to hit the gridiron at Wembley Stadium in London, England. The Pats, at 4-3 SU and ATS on the season, are 7.5-point favorites against the Rams (3-4 SU, 5-2 ATS) for this weekend.

The Bears are favored by 9 points on the NFL odds at 5Dimes for their game on Sunday afternoon against the Panthers, and Chicago hasn't had much luck covering spreads against Carolina in their history – they're just 2-4-1 ATS in their seven meetings. Chicago is 5-1 SU and 4-1-1 ATS on the season after beating the Lions on Monday night, while Carolina sits at an ugly 1-5 SU and 2-4 ATS this year.

Other big spreads on the board for this weekend include Washington at Pittsburgh (-5) and New Orleans at Denver (-7) on Sunday, and San Francisco (-7) at Arizona on Monday night. As well, the Vikings are listed as 7-point favorites for their Thursday night game against the Buccaneers, with Tampa Bay 5-0 both SU and ATS over its past five games against Minnesota – including a 24-20 road victory last season.

The rest of the weekend NFL betting slate has San Diego (-2.5) at Cleveland, Seattle at Detroit (-1), Indianapolis at Tennessee (-3.5), Atlanta at Philadelphia (-1.5), Oakland at Kansas City (-1), and the Giants at Dallas (pick'em). The Jaguars/Packers matchup for Sunday was off the board at 5Dimes early in the week due to injuries to Jacksonville's Blaine Gabbert (shoulder) and Maurice Jones-Drew (foot).
