Weekly Sports Betting Roundup: July 18

The Major League Baseball betting schedule is back in full swing in a week that also includes the PGA's stop in Canada, an F1 event in Germany, and four CFL games.

Early baseball action around the American League this week includes the Red Sox vs. the Orioles in Baltimore, the Yankees vs. the Rays in Tampa Bay, and the Rangers vs. the Angels in Los Angeles.

The Rangers/Angels series gets underway on Tuesday night, with Texas' Alexi Ogando (9-3, 2.92 ERA) taking on Los Angeles' Tyler Chatwood (5-5, 3.62 ERA). Righthander Ogando has won two straight starts and given up three or fewer earned runs in eight of his past 10 trips to the mound.

Over in the National League early in the week there's the Reds vs. the Pirates in Pittsburgh, the Brewers vs. the Diamondbacks in Arizona, and the Dodgers vs. the Giants in San Francisco.

Tuesday's Dodgers/Giants matchup is slated to feature Los Angeles' Rubby De La Rosa (3-4, 3.74 ERA) and San Francisco's Madison Bumgarner (4-9, 3.74 ERA). Lefthander Bumgarner has been pitching well enough for his team to win lately; he has just one victory in his past four starts, but the Giants were 4-0 in those games.

Marquee weekend series around MLB include the Cardinals vs. the Pirates in Pittsburgh, the Brewers vs. the Giants in San Francisco, and the White Sox vs. the Indians in Cleveland.

The focus of the golf world turns from the British Open to the Canadian Open this week, with the tournament taking place at Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club in Vancouver. Carl Pettersson won this event last year, and he'll be back to defend that title this week.

This year's Canadian Open field is also slated to include Luke Donald, Jim Furyk, Rickie Fowler, Matt Kuchar, Hunter Mahan, Justin Leonard, and Charl Schwartzel, along with Canadians Stephen Ames and Mike Weir.

Staying up north, the Canadian Football League has four more games on tap for this week, with Hamilton at British Columbia, Winnipeg at Toronto, Edmonton at Calgary, and Saskatchewan at Montreal. After three weeks Edmonton and Montreal are the only 3-0 teams SU, while Edmonton and Winnipeg are both 3-0 ATS. Saskatchewan has been the worst CFL wager so far this season, going 0-3 both SU and ATS.

Finally, Formula 1 takes to the track for the German Grand Prix this week, with drivers championship betting favorite Sebastian Vettel seeking his seventh win in 10 events. Vettel, who has a huge lead in the standings, is the 1/12 favorite at Bodog to win the title this year, well ahead of Fernando Alonso (10/1) and Lewis Hamilton (33/1).
