M & M 1961

Las Vegas - If you're waiting for me to make a pick on the Yankees/Red Sox game, keep waiting. AIN'T gonna happen. If you're waiting for Facebook and Instagram to return, it probably WILL happen. If you're waiting for Urban Meyer to get another kinda lap dance, who knows! Most of you who have been at the Ecks & Bacon table for the last few years know that I BLEED PINSTRIPES. Born & raised in the Bronx like maybe five miles from Yankee Stadium. Grew up in the late 1950s/early 60s, and was smack in the middle of the famous Mantle/Maris home run chase in 1961 for Babe Ruth's record. Mick and Roger did it at the Stadium. We did it on the playground with a broom stick and a 25 cent Spalding Hi-Bounce Ball. If you hit it into the bushes, it was a double. If you hit it to the flagpole, GONE BABY! Had 47 flagpoles back in '61, which was the best number at the Marble Hill Projects, but still 14 short of Maris. Have always stressed betting with your head and not your heart, which is why the New York teams are always a hard pass for me. But Eck, it's the Wild Card game for a chance to go to the ALDS? Still a NO GO. Sorry. Don't even know if I'll be able to watch because the blood pressure might spike WAY too high. Will be back with a pick on the National League Wild Card game tomorrow between the Dodgers and Cardinals. Promise!
