South Carolina State was burned for 30 points by Nic Thomas on Wednesday as Norfolk State picked up a 78-73 win at Norfolk Scope Arena.
Norfolk State got 17 points from Mastadi Pitt and another 8 points from Derrik Jamerson Jr.. Mastadi Pitt contributed 7 assists, while Steven Whitley cleaned the glass with 7 rebounds.
South Carolina State got a 16-point performance from Ian Kinard, who was supported by 13 points from Damani Applewhite. Janai Raynor Powell had 9 assists in a losing cause for South Carolina State, while Ian Kinard grabbed 13 rebounds.
Norfolk State was losing at the break before taking care of business in the second half.
