Xavier was victimized for 23 points and 12 rebounds by Paul Reed as DePaul defeated them 71-67 in NCAA action on Wednesday.
DePaul won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the +6.5-point spread as underdogs.
DePaul got 18 points from Charlie Moore and another 11 points from Jaylen Butz. Charlie Moore contributed 9 assists, while Paul Reed cleaned the glass with 12 rebounds.
Xavier got a 22-point performance from Tyrique Jones, who was supported by 18 points from Zach Freemantle. Naji Marshall had 8 assists in a losing cause for Xavier, while Naji Marshall grabbed 8 rebounds.
DePaul led at halftime, 38-35.
DePaul won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 35-26.
