Virginia Defeats Pittsburgh 30-14 - Recap

Virginia earned a 30-14 victory over Pittsburgh on Saturday in Week 1 action at Heinz Field.

Virginia won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the -2.5-point spread as favorites. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go UNDER the closing number of 45.5.

Wayne Taulapapa rushed for 66 yards, while Bryce Perkins added 44 yards in the win. Hasise Dubois and Joe Reed added 45 and 34 receiving yards respectively.

A.J. Davis rushed for 25 yards for Pittsburgh, while Todd Sibley Jr. added 23 yards. Kenny Pickett threw for 185 yards for the Panthers, while receivers A.J. Davis and Maurice Ffrench had 65 and 54 yards respectively.

Pittsburgh lost the offensive yardage battle to Virginia 310-263 yards in Saturday's game. Virginia had more first downs as that total ended up 20-15.

The time of possession battle favored Virginia as their offense was on the field for 34:16, longer than the 25:44 of their opponents.

Next game, Virginia takes its act home to face William & Mary looking for another win. For Pittsburgh, they head home to face Ohio.
