Washington State Defeats Houston 31-24 - Recap

Washington State's aerial attack produced 440 yards and the Cougars produced a 31-24 victory over Houston on Friday at NRG Stadium.

Washington State did not, however, defeat the Cougars against the spread, which closed at -8.5 at most sportsbooks. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go UNDER the closing number of 74.0.

Anthony Gordon completed 36 of 48 pass attempts for 440 yards for the Cougars in the win.

D'Eriq King rushed for 94 yards for Houston, while Patrick Carr added 77 yards. D'Eriq King threw for 128 yards for the Cougars, while receivers Keith Corbin and Marquez Stevenson had 54 and 34 yards respectively.

Houston was outgained by Washington State 489-367 yards in Friday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 25-22 by the Cougars.

The time of possession battle favored Washington State as their offense was on the field for 32:06, longer than the 27:54 of their opponents.

Next game, Washington State takes its act home to face California-Los Angeles looking for another win. For Houston, they head on the road to face Tulane.
