Navy Falls 35-23 to Tigers - Recap
The Midshipmen had no answer for Kenneth Gainwell on Thursday as the Tigers rolled to a 35-23 win at Liberty Bowl.
Memphis was a favorite by -10.5 points and came through with an ATS victory for bettors. The game went OVER the consensus closing total of 53.5.
Kenneth Gainwell rushed for 104 yards, while Kylan Watkins added 18 yards in the win. Antonio Gibson and Damonte Coxie added 105 and 41 receiving yards respectively.
Keoni-Kordell Makekau rushed for 101 yards for Navy, while Malcolm Perry added 91 yards. Malcolm Perry threw for 82 yards for the Midshipmen, while receivers Ryan Mitchell and Chance Warren had 52 and 20 yards respectively.
Navy outgained Memphis 373-301 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 20-12 by the Midshipmen.
The time of possession battle favored Navy as their offense was on the field for 38:39, longer than the 21:21 of their opponents.
Next game, Memphis takes its act on the road to face Louisiana-Monroe looking for another win. For Navy, they head home to face Air Force.
