Rice Falls 20-6 to Golden Eagles - Recap
Southern Miss earned a 20-6 victory over Rice on Saturday in Week 9 action at Rice Stadium.
Southern Miss won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the -10.0-point spread as favorites. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go UNDER the closing number of 51.5.
Kevin Perkins rushed for 86 yards, while De'Michael Harris added 41 yards in the win. Tim Jones and Quez Watkins added 96 and 67 receiving yards respectively.
Charlie Booker rushed for 28 yards for Rice, while Jovoni Johnson added 7 yards. Wiley Green threw for 104 yards for the Owls, while receivers Austin Trammell and Brad Rozner had 52 and 45 yards respectively.
Rice lost the offensive yardage battle to Southern Miss 364-139 yards in Saturday's game. Southern Miss had more first downs as that total ended up 18-14.
Southern Miss led the time of possession tally, as the game finished as a 30:45-29:15 split in that important category.
Next game, Southern Miss takes its act home to face Alabama-Birmingham looking for another win. For Rice, they head home to face Marshall.
