Chanticleers Down Texas State 35-21 - Match Report
Grayson McCall led the way with 319 passing yards on Saturday as the Chanticleers picked up a 35-21 victory over the Bobcats at Brooks Stadium.
Coastal Carolina did not, however, defeat the Bobcats against the spread, which closed at -24.5 at most sportsbooks. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go UNDER the closing number of 60.5.
Grayson McCall completed 22 of 28 pass attempts for 319 yards for the Chanticleers in the win.
Calvin Hill rushed for 100 yards for Texas State, while Jahmyl Jeter added 42 yards. Tyler Vitt threw for 106 yards for the Bobcats, while receivers Ashtyn Hawkins and Marcell Barbee had 41 and 38 yards respectively.
Texas State was outgained by Coastal Carolina 498-301 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 30-17 by the Chanticleers.
The time of possession battle favored Coastal Carolina as their offense was on the field for 35:06, longer than the 24:54 of their opponents.
Next game, Coastal Carolina takes its act on the road to face South Alabama looking for another win. For Texas State, they head on the road to face Arkansas State.
