Abilene Christian Wildcats vs New Mexico Lobos Wrap - New Mexico Wins 38-14
Abilene Christian couldn't hang with the Lobos on Saturday as New Mexico blasted the Wildcats 38-14 in Week 1 action at University Stadium.
New Mexico did not, however, defeat the Wildcats against the spread, which closed at -34.0 at most sportsbooks. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go UNDER the closing number of 67.5.
Romell Jordan rushed for 65 yards, while Daryl Chestnut added 64 yards in the win. Delane Hart-Johnson and Chris Davis added 77 and 55 receiving yards respectively.
Justin Miller rushed for 26 yards for Abilene Christian, while Tracy James added 19 yards. Dallas Sealey threw for 240 yards for the Wildcats, while receivers Carl Whitley and Troy Grant had 59 and 49 yards respectively.
Abilene Christian lost the offensive yardage battle to New Mexico 481-282 yards in Saturday's game. New Mexico had more first downs as that total ended up 21-20.
Abilene Christian led the time of possession tally, as the game finished as a 33:39-26:21 split in that important category.
New Mexico heads into a Week 2 battle against New Mexico State. Abilene Christian, meanwhile, will have their next action against Colorado State.
