Recap - Cardinal Defeat California 17-14
Bryce Love scampered through the California defense for 101 yards as Stanford handed the Golden Bears a 17-14 defeat on Saturday at Stanford Stadium.
The Cardinal earned a straight-up victory but suffered an ATS defeat in failing to cover the -14.0-point spread. Over-Under bettors who played UNDER the total of 56.0 were rewarded with a winning wager.
Bryce Love rushed for 101 yards, while Cameron Scarlett added 61 yards in the win. JJ Arcega-Whiteside and Trenton Irwin added 79 and 48 receiving yards respectively.
Patrick Laird rushed for 153 yards for California, while Zion Echols added 4 yards. Ross Bowers threw for 182 yards for the Golden Bears, while receivers Jordan Veasy and Vic Wharton had 68 and 58 yards respectively.
California was outgained by Stanford 378-337 yards in Saturday's match, while the important battle of first downs was won 21-19 by the Cardinal.
California lost the time of possession battle 33:29-26:31, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
Stanford looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against Notre Dame. California will aim to get back on the winning track at UCLA.
