Recap - Hurricanes Defeat New York 5-2

Carolina skated to a 5-2 victory over New York on Friday in NHL action at PNC Arena.

Carolina won as a -171 favorite, while Over-Under bettors who played OVER the total of 5.5 were rewarded at the payout window.

Carolina got goals from Erik Haula, Dougie Hamilton, Teuvo Teravainen, Andrei Svechnikov, and Brett Pesce in the victory. Teravainen opened the scoring at 3:57 of the first period.

Petr Mrazek turned in a 17-save effort for the Hurricanes.

Johnny Boychuk, and Brock Nelson scored for the Islanders, finding the net behind Petr Mrazek.

New York got a 35-stop effort from Thomas Greiss in the loss.

On the power play, Carolina went 0-for-2, while the Islanders were 2-for-5 with the man advantage.

New York lost the shots on goal battle to Carolina by a margin of 40-19.

Next game, Carolina takes its act home to face Columbus looking for another win. For New York, they head home to face Florida.
