Ottawa Falls 5-3 to Capitals - Recap

Alex Ovechkin scored a pair of goals against the Senators as Washington handed Ottawa a 5-3 defeat on Friday at Canadian Tire Centre.

Washington won as a -197 favorite, while Over-Under bettors who played OVER the total of 6.5 were rewarded at the payout window.

Washington got goals from Alex Ovechkin(2), T.J. Oshie, Evgeny Kuznetsov, and Carl Hagelin in the victory. Oshie opened the scoring at 4:10 of the first period.

Ilya Samsonov stopped 25 of 28 Ottawa shots in the victory.

Ottawa got goals from Thomas Chabot, Chris Tierney, and Artem Anisimov in the loss, but it wasn't enough.

Ottawa got a 32-stop effort from Marcus Hogberg in the loss.

On the power play, Washington went 1-for-5, while the Senators were 1-for-3 with the man advantage.

Ottawa lost the shots on goal battle to Washington by a margin of 37-28.

Washington looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against the Penguins. The Senators will aim to get back on the winning track at Toronto.
