Illinois Defeats Rutgers 35-13 - Recap

Rutgers couldn't hang with the Fighting Illini on Saturday as Illinois blasted the Scarlet Knights 35-13 in Week 10 action at Gies Memorial Stadium.

Illinois won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the -13.0-point spread as favorites. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go UNDER the closing number of 62.5.

Luke Altmyer rushed for 88 yards, while Aidan Laughery added 41 yards in the win. Hudson Clement and Hank Beatty added 84 and 40 receiving yards respectively.

Ja'shon Benjamin rushed for 37 yards for Rutgers, while Antwan Raymond added 29 yards. Athan Kaliakmanis threw for 253 yards for the Scarlet Knights, while receivers KJ Duff and Ian Strong had 93 and 85 yards respectively.

Illinois outgained Rutgers 445-312 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 26-19 by the Fighting Illini.

Rutgers lost the time of possession battle 32:35-27:25, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.

Next game, Illinois takes its act home to face Maryland looking for another win. For Rutgers, they head home to face Maryland.
