2019 Northern Trust Betting Odds Preview

The run to the FedExCup officially begins this week as the PGA enters the playoffs starting at the Northern Trust.

The venue for this year’s Northern Trust is the Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey. Liberty National last hosted the Northern Trust (then known as the Barclays) in 2013.

This week’s favorite at Bovada Sportsbook is also the current FedExCup leader, Brooks Koepka, at +800. Koepka won his first WGC event two weeks ago at the St. Jude Invitational where he once again ran away from the field. Right now a bet on Koepka always looks like a good one.

McIlroy second to Koepka in Northern Trust odds

Following Koepka on the odds at Bovada are Rory McIlroy at +1100, Jon Rahm at +1400 and Dustin Johnson at +1600. Johnson has had plenty of success in this event in the past with wins in 2017 at Glen Oaks and at Plainfield in 2011. Rahm may not have won this tournament yet, but he looks like great value with two wins and 10 top-10 finishes this year.

Rounding out the top five at Bovada are Justin Rose and Justin Thomas, both at +2000. Thomas, who is still looking for his first win of the season, started strong with top-five finishes in four of his first eight events and has come close to matching that recently, finishing 12th and 11th in his last two tour stops.

If you’re looking for Tiger Woods, you’ll find him listed at +2500. Woods hasn’t played an event since he missed the cut at The Open Championship. He’s surprisingly never won the Northern Trust or Barclays tournament, but he has finished second on multiple occasions.

DeChambeau a +4000 underdog to repeat

Last year when the Northern Trust was held at Ridgewood, Bryson DeChambeau topped the leaderboard. He’s a +4000 underdog at Bovada to repeat.

The last time the Northern Trust was held at Liberty National in 2013, Adam Scott won. Four players finished tied for second behind Scott, including Rose, Woods and U.S. Open champ Gary Woodland. Scott is at +4000 to post another win at Liberty National.

Other former winners of the Northern Trust/Barclays in this week’s field include Patrick Reed (+5000), Jason Day (+4000), Matt Kuchar (+5000), Nick Watney (+15000) and two-time winner Sergio Garcia (+8000).
