2020 Wyndham Championship Betting Preview

The last tournament on the PGA schedule before the start of the FedExCup playoffs tees off Thursday as the Wyndham Championship returns to the Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The favorite at Bovada Sportsbook to win the Wyndham is Brooks Koepka at +1000. Koepka delivered an up-and-down performance last week at the PGA Championship. He was in contention on the final day but flopped with a 4-over 74 in the final round to finish tied for 29th. His second-place finish at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational the week prior remains his lone top-five finish of the season.

Koepka remains without a win on tour this season

Following Koepka on the Wyndham odds at Bovada are Webb Simpson at +1100, Tommy Fleetwood and Patrick Reed at +1400, and Paul Casey at +1800.

Simpson should be a must-bet for bettors when he plays in the Wyndham, as he’s a regular near the top of the leaderboard. He won this event in 2011 and has placed second the last two years. He also finished third in 2017.

Fleetwood has improved in three straight tournaments since returning to the tour in late July. However, like Koepka, a disappointing final round last week at the PGA Championship kept him from challenging for the tournament title.

Casey was runner-up at PGA Championship

Reed has won the Wyndham before, finishing atop the leaderboard in 2013. He finished tied for 13th last week at the PGA Championship.

Casey just missed out on winning his first career major last week, finishing tied for second in the PGA Championship. With PGA Championship winner Collin Morikawa not playing this week and Dustin Johnson (who also tied for second) also not in this week’s field, Casey will be the top finisher from the PGA Championship at Sedgefield this week. His second-place showing last week was his first top-five finish of the season.

Poston shot 22 under to win 2019 tourney

The defending champion of the Wyndham is J.T. Poston. He posted his first PGA tour win at Sedgefield after shooting 22 under par to best Simpson by one stroke. Since the tour resumed play following the COVID-19 hiatus, Poston has posted two top-10 finishes, but he’s also missed the cut in three of his last five tournaments.

Other former Wyndham Championship winners in this week’s field include two-time winner Brandt Snedeker (+4000), Si Woo Kim (+3300), Ryan Moore (+5000), Carl Pettersson (+50000) and three-time winner Davis Love III (+50000).
