College Football Week 2 Betting Odds Preview

After an opening week filled with upsets both straight up and against the spread, will the favorites be any kinder to bettors in Week 2 of college football?

There are two ranked matchups on the schedule this week, starting with the No. 11 Oregon Ducks at the No. 4 Ohio State Buckeyes. At Bovada Sportsbook, the Buckeyes are 14-point favorites.

Ohio State began the season last week with a 45-31 win over the Minnesota Golden Gophers as a 14-point favorite. Ohio State is 8-1 SU in its last nine and 4-4-1 ATS. The final score last week went OVER the posted total, the Buckeyes’ sixth OVER in their last seven games. At home Ohio State has won 22 straight games while going 11-11 ATS.

Oregon started the season with a 31-24 win over the Fresno State Bulldogs but failed to cover as a 19.5-point favorite. The Ducks are 1-5 ATS in their last six games and as a road underdog they’re 2-7 SU and ATS in their last nine.

Ohio State and Oregon last met up in 2015 and the Buckeyes won 42-20 as a 6-point underdog.

Cyclones have been solid UNDER wager for bettors

The other ranked matchup on the schedule this week is the No. 18 Iowa Hawkeyes at the No. 7 Iowa State Cyclones as a 4-point road underdog.

Last week Iowa crushed the Indiana Hoosiers 34-6 as a 3.5-point favorite. That was the Hawkeyes’ seventh straight win, during which they are 6-1 ATS. Iowa has been a solid road team lately at 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS in the last six, but as an underdog the Hawkeyes are 3-8 SU and 4-6-1 ATS in their last 11.

Iowa State barely got past the Northern Iowa Panthers 16-10 as a 28.5-point favorite last week. The Cyclones are 7-1 SU and 5-3 ATS in their last eight games, and for totals bettors they’re 5-0-1 UNDER in their last six.

The Hawkeyes and Cyclones last met up in 2019 and Iowa edged Iowa State 18-17 as a 1.5-point road favorite. The Hawkeyes have won five straight against the Cyclones at 3-1-1 ATS.

Wolverines have covered only 1 of last 5 as favorite

Also on tap this weekend, the Washington Huskies will try to rebound from an opening-week loss when they face the Michigan Wolverines as a 6.5-point road underdog.

Last week Washington was upset by the Montana Grizzlies 13-7 as a 22.5-point favorite. The Huskies are 1-4 ATS in their last five games, and have been a strong UNDER play for totals bettors at 7-2 UNDER in their last nine. As an underdog, Washington is 1-8 SU and 2-7 ATS in its last nine.

Michigan began the season last week with a 47-14 win over the Western Michigan Broncos as a 16.5-point favorite. Even with that win, the Wolverines are only 2-3 SU and 1-4 ATS in their last five games as a favorite.
