College Football Week 2 Betting Preview

There are a pair of ranked matchups on the Week 2 college football schedule highlighted by a clash between the Texas Longhorns and the Alabama Crimson Tide.

At the Bovada Sportsbook Alabama is listed as a 7-point favorite. The Crimson Tide began the season last week by crushing the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders 56-7 as 3-point favorites. At home they have a strong 15-3-1 ATS record in their last 19 games.

Texas is coming off a 37-10 win over the Rice Owls in which they failed to cover as 35.5-point favorites. On the road the Longhorns are 2-5 straight up and ATS in their last seven games. As an underdog they have dropped six games in a row both SU and ATS.

Last season Alabama edged Texas 20-19 as a 21-point road favorites.

Mississippi is road chalk taking on Tulane

The other Top 25 matchup this weekend is the Mississippi Rebels at the Tulane Green Wave. The Rebels are listed as 7-point road favorites.

Last week the Rebels easily got past the Mercer Bears 73-7 as 34-point favorites. That snapped a four-game losing streak during which they were 1-3 ATS. In their last 11 games the Rebels are 3-7-1 ATS, but as road favorites they’ve won four straight at 3-0-1 ATS.

Tulane defeated the South Alabama Jaguars 37-17 as a 6-point favorite last week. The Green Wave have won five straight both SU and ATS and they’re 10-1 SU and ATS in their last 11 games. As home underdogs they have lost five in a row SU but they’re 7-2 ATS in their last nine.

In this matchup the Rebels have won six straight with a 4-2 ATS record.

USC set as heavy favorite against Stanford

Also on tap this weekend is the final Pac-12 matchup between the Stanford Cardinal and the USC Trojans. The Trojans are set as heavy 29-point home favorites.

USC has already played two games this season and compiled a 2-0 SU record and 1-1 ATS mark. Last week they defeated the Nevada Wolf Pack 66-14 as 38-point favorites. USC has been a solid OVER wager for totals bettors with 10 straight OVER results. When favored the Trojans are 8-2 SU and 5-5 ATS in their last 10 games.

Stanford started the season with a 37-24 win over the Hawaii Warriors as 2.5-point road favorites. That win snapped a five-game SU losing streak and a six-game ATS losing streak for Stanford. As underdogs the Cardinal have lost five in a row SU and ATS and they’re 1-9 SU and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games.

Last season USC defeated Stanford 41-28 as 9.5-point favorites. In their last six games versus the Cardinal the Trojans are 4-2 SU and 3-3 ATS, but they’re 3-5 SU and ATS in their last eight road games against them.
