College Football Week 4 Betting Preview

Four of the teams ranked in the top five are road favorites this weekend, starting with the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide at the Vanderbilt Commodores.

The Crimson Tide are a 19.5-point favorite at Bovada Sportsbook as they go for their 11th straight win as a road favorite. Alabama is 6-3-1 against the spread during their streak but overall they’re only 3-5 ATS in their last eight. Vanderbilt has been a strong pick as a home underdog, having won four straight ATS and they’re 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11.

The No. 3 Oklahoma Sooners are a 28-point road favorite this week versus the Baylor Bears. Oklahoma has won 13 in a row SU and seven straight ATS, and on the road they’ve reeled off 12 wins in a row SU while going 9-3 ATS. Baylor has lost their last three SU and ATS and they’re 1-9 SU and 2-8 ATS in their last 10.

The No. 4 Penn State Nittany Lions face the Iowa Hawkeyes as a 13-point road favorite looking to build on an impressive 11-0-2 ATS record in their last 13 games. Iowa is a lame 4-9 ATS in their last 13 at home and they’ve dropped their last three SU and ATS against Penn State.

The No. 5 USC Trojans get the California Golden Bears this week as a 16.5-point road favorite. USC has won 12 straight at 8-4 ATS and as a road favorite they’re 6-0 SU and 5-1 ATS in their last six. California has lost 13 in a row against USC while going 3-10 ATS, but as a home underdog they’re 5-2 ATS in their last seven.

If you’re looking for ranked matchups this week, the No. 16 TCU Horned Frogs face the No. 6 Oklahoma State Cowboys as a 14-point underdog, and the No. 17 Mississippi Bulldogs visit the No. 11 Georgia Bulldogs as a 5-point underdog.

The Cowboys are a strong 11-1 SU and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 at home, but don’t count out the Horned Frogs, who boast a 9-2 ATS mark in their last 11 as an underdog.

Mississippi State is 4-1 ATS in their last five as an underdog and they’re 3-1 ATS in their last four versus Georgia. Georgia is a disappointing 3-6 ATS in their last nine when favored and own the same record in their last nine at home.

The No. 7 Washington Huskies are also road favorites this week at the Colorado Buffaloes, checking in at -11 at Bovada Sportsbook. Colorado has lost 17 in a row SU as a home underdog while going 6-11 ATS. The Huskies are a perfect 7-0 SU and ATS against Colorado and as a road favorite have won 11 straight at 6-5 ATS.

Lastly, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are a 4-point road favorite this week at the Michigan State Spartans. The home team is 5-2 SU and 2-4-1 ATS in the last seven in this matchup. Last season the Irish were a 7-point favorite versus the Spartans and lost 36-28.
