College Football Week 8 Betting Preview

The No. 11 USC Trojans get a ranked matchup this week as they visit the No. 13 Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

The Irish are a 4-point home favorite at Bovada Sportsbook and they’ve won their last four straight up and against the spread when favored. USC has dropped five straight ATS and seven of its last eight. Notre Dame is 2-0 SU and ATS in its last two home games against the Trojans, but overall the Irish are 4-11 SU and 6-9 ATS in their last 15 matchups.

The only other ranked matchup on tap this weekend is the No. 19 Michigan Wolverines at the No. 2 Penn State Nittany Lions as a 12.5-point underdog. Penn State has won six straight at 4-1-1 ATS and is 13-1-1 ATS in its last 15 games. Michigan has won its last three versus Penn State both SU and ATS, but the Wolverines are 2-3-1 ATS in their last six overall.

The No. 4 TCU Horned Frogs are massive 39-point favorites this week at home to the Kansas Jayhawks. TCU has won six straight at 4-2 ATS, but in the last 10 home games the Horned Frogs are a miserable 1-9 ATS. Kansas has dropped five straight SU and ATS versus TCU and on the road overall the Jayhawks have lost their last 30 SU while going 9-21 ATS.

The No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide are a 16-point home favorite this week against the Tennessee Volunteers. At home, the Tide have won 16 straight with a 7-9 record ATS and they’ve won 10 in a row versus Tennessee at 8-2 ATS. The Volunteers are 1-5 ATS in their last six games.

The No. 21 Auburn Tigers are a 21-point road favorite this week against the Arkansas Razorbacks. The Tigers are 2-4-2 ATS in their last eight games but as a road favorite they’re 4-2 ATS in their last six. The Razorbacks have lost four straight home games ATS, but they’re 3-1 SU and ATS in their last four at home versus Auburn.

The UCF Knights are a 7.5-point road favorite against the Navy Midshipmen this week. The Knights have won five straight SU and ATS and they’re 6-1 ATS in their last seven on the road. Navy is 18-1 SU and 11-7-1 ATS in the last 19 at home, and the Midshipmen have won their last two games as a home underdog.

The Syracuse Orange go for another upset this week when they face the No. 8 Miami Hurricanes as a 16-point road underdog. The Orange are 4-0-1 ATS in their last five following their massive upset of the Clemson Tigers last week. Miami has won 10 straight at 8-2 ATS and has won the last five against Syracuse while going 4-1 ATS.
