NFL Week 17 Betting Preview and Trends

The NFL regular season comes to an end Sunday with the NFC South title still up for grabs.

The New Orleans Saints can clinch the division with a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this weekend. The Saints are a 7.5-point road favorite at Bovada Sportsbook and defeated Tampa Bay 30-10 as a 7-point favorite in Week 9. The Saints are 10-2 straight up and 7-5 against the spread in their last 12 versus the Bucs, while Tampa Bay has lost five straight overall at 2-3 ATS.

The Panthers can capture the division with a Saints loss and a win over the Atlanta Falcons. Atlanta is a 3.5-point home favorite, but lost to Carolina 20-17 as a 3-point favorite in Week 9. Despite that loss, Atlanta is still 7-2 SU and ATS in its last nine games versus Carolina. The Panthers are 5-1 SU and ATS in their last six as an underdog and they’re 5-2 SU and ATS in their last seven road games.
In the AFC, both wild-card spots remain available with four teams in the running. For the Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans, it’s win and they’re in.

Baltimore is a 10-point home favorite versus the Cincinnati Bengals. Baltimore shut out the Bengals 20-0 as a 2.5-point underdog in their season opener. Even with that loss Cincinnati is 6-2 SU and 5-3 ATS in its last eight versus Baltimore. The Ravens have also won four straight at home and they’re 10-2 SU in their last 12.

The Titans are 6-point home favorites against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Tennessee has lost three in a row SU but is 5-1 ATS in the last six games. At home Tennessee is 5-1 SU and 4-1-1 ATS in the last six. The Jaguars have won five straight ATS as an underdog, but they’re 0-7 SU in their last seven road games in December.

The other two teams in the wild-card hunt in the AFC are the Los Angeles Chargers and Buffalo Bills. Both need to win this week and get some help to get in.

The Chargers are an 8.5-point home favorite versus the Oakland Raiders. Los Angeles is 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS in its last six, and at home has won four straight at 3-1 ATS. Oakland has lost three in a row at 1-1-1 ATS, and as an underdog has lost five straight with a 1-3-1 ATS mark.

The Bills are a 3-point road favorite against the Miami Dolphins. Buffalo has trouble winning on the road with a 2-7 record SU and 2-6-1 ATS in the last nine. Miami is 2-7 SU and 2-6-1 ATS in its last nine, but has won its last two games as a home underdog.
