NFL Week 3 Betting Preview and Trends

After a big rebound victory last week, the New England Patriots appear to have an easy win in hand in Week 3 as they host the Houston Texans as 13-point favorites.

New England owns Houston, having won six straight against the Texans while going 5-1 against the spread. The Patriots are 8-1 straight up and 7-2 ATS in their last nine versus Houston and at home they’re a perfect 5-0 SU and ATS. Despite winning and covering last week, Houston is 2-3 SU in its last five and 2-5 ATS in its last seven.

In the NFC East this week, the struggling New York Giants visit the Philadelphia Eagles as a 3.5-point underdog. The Giants have dropped three in a row SU and ATS and they have only one win in their last five. Philadelphia is rolling at home at 6-2 SU and ATS in the last eight, and in their last five at home versus New York the Eagles are 4-1 SU and ATS.

The stumbling New Orleans Saints venture into Carolina this week to face the Panthers as a 6-point underdog. The Saints are 2-5 SU and 3-4 ATS in their last seven, but have been money for total bettors taking the OVER, having gone OVER in five straight. Carolina is a solid 5-2-1 ATS in its eight, but against the Saints the Panthers are 1-4-1 ATS in their last six.

The Green Bay Packers got a gift from the schedule makers this week with a home game against the awful Cincinnati Bengals as a 9-point favorite. Green Bay has won its last five at home both SU and ATS. On the road, the Bengals are 1-6 SU and 2-5 ATS in their last seven, but surprisingly they’ve won their last three SU versus Green Bay. Cincinnati can’t score and has posted six straight UNDERs and is 9-1 UNDER in the last 10.

The Kansas City Chiefs are road favorites this week, down as 3-point chalk versus the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chiefs have won seven straight on the road SU and ATS and as a road favorite they’ve won eight in a row SU and ATS. The Chargers have been one of the worst betting options in the NFL lately. Los Angeles has lost seven straight at 0-6-1 ATS. They’ve also dropped five straight at home SU and ATS and against the Chiefs they’ve lost six in a row SU.

Week 3 concludes Monday night with the Dallas Cowboys at the Arizona Cardinals as a 3.5-point road favorite. Arizona has won its last four games against Dallas SU and ATS, with all four wins coming as the underdog. At home Arizona is 7-1 SU and 5-3 ATS in the last eight versus Dallas.
