NFL Week 5 Thursday Night Betting Preview

The Los Angeles Rams look to rebound from their first loss of the season when they get Week 5 started on Thursday night against the Seattle Seahawks.

The Rams dropped to 3-1 straight up and against the spread on the season last week with a 55-40 upset loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a 9-point home favorite. Jared Goff had a busy afternoon in the loss, completing 45 of 68 passes for 517 yards with two touchdowns, three interceptions and a lost fumble.

Rams have been solid UNDER play on the road

The Rams head to Seattle having won four straight on the road both SU and ATS. On the road, Los Angeles has been a strong UNDER play for totals bettors at 5-1 UNDER in their last six and 7-2 UNDER in their last nine.

As an underdog, the Rams are 3-1 SU and ATS in their last four, but those numbers don’t hold up long term, as they are 3-5 SU and ATS in their last eight as an underdog.

Seattle got past the Arizona Cardinals 27-10 as a 5.5-point favorite last week. Russell Wilson passed for 240 yards with a touchdown in the win, while Chris Carson rushed for 104 yards on 22 carries. With that win and cover, Seattle improved to 3-1 SU and 2-2 ATS.

Seahawks 5-5 SU in last 10 as fave of 2 points or less

At home, Seattle is 6-1 SU and 3-3-1 ATS in its last seven games, and when favored is 9-3 SU but only 5-6-1 ATS in the last 12. At home to opponents from the NFC West, the Seahawks have been a poor bet at 2-5 ATS in their last seven. When favored by 2 points or less, the Seahawks are 5-5 SU and ATS in their last 10.

Last season the Rams were 2-0 SU against Seattle but they lost both games ATS. In their last eight games vs the Seahawks, the Rams are 6-2 SU and 4-4 ATS. In Seattle, the Rams are 3-1 SU and 2-2 ATS in their last four, but 3-11 SU and 4-10 ATS in their last 14.

Both matchups between Seattle and Los Angeles last season went well OVER the posted total with 60-plus points being scored in both games. The posted total for Thursday’s game at Bovada is 49. The total has also gone OVER in Seattle’s last six games against divisional opponents.
