NFL Week 8 Betting Preview and Trends

Thursday Night Football delivers another mediocre matchup to start Week 8, as the Miami Dolphins take on the Houston Texans.

At Bovada Sportsbook the Texans are a 7.5-point favorite as they go for their fifth straight win straight up. The Texans are only 2-2 against the spread during their streak and they’ve lost five straight ATS at home. The Dolphins are a pitiful 1-7 SU and ATS in their last eight road games, and they’ve lost their last four games in Houston.

The Kansas City Chiefs could have a cakewalk in Week 8 as 10-point favorites vs the Denver Broncos. The 7-0 ATS Chiefs have won six straight SU and ATS vs Denver, including a 27-23 win as a 3.5-point favorite in Week 4. The Broncos have covered in their last two games, but they’re still only 4-14-1 ATS in their last 19.

Both New York teams are underdogs this week, as the Jets face the Chicago Bears and the Giants host the Washington Redskins.

The Jets are a 7-point underdog and on the road they’re a terrible 1-7 SU and 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight. The Bears have won four straight against the Jets both SU and ATS. Chicago is a lackluster 3-9 ATS in its last 12 when favored.

Redskins 2-6 ATS in last 8 within NFC East

The Giants are a 1-point home underdog and at home to Washington they’re 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS in their last six. In their last 13 games overall, the Giants are 2-11 SU and 6-7 ATS. The Redskins have had trouble in their division lately at 2-6 SU and ATS in their last eight, and they’re 1-5 SU and 2-4 ATS in their last six on the road.

The most interesting matchup this week might be the Green Bay Packers at the Los Angeles Rams as a 9-point underdog. The Packers have lost four straight SU and ATS and they’re a disappointing 2-7 ATS in their last nine, but they have won five straight vs the Rams. The Rams are 7-0 SU on the season and 4-2-1 ATS, and in their last seven when favored by 9 points or more, they’re 6-1 SU and 4-3 ATS.

In this week’s Monday nighter, the New England Patriots are massive 14-point road favorites vs the Buffalo Bills. The Patriots are only 2-3 SU and ATS in their last five road games, all as the favorite, but they’re 11-2 SU and 8-4-1 ATS in their last 13 vs the Bills. Buffalo is 3-1 SU and ATS in its last four at home, but 2-5 SU and ATS in the last seven as a home underdog.
