NFL Week 9 Betting Preview and Trends

Week 9 in the NFL begins with another Thursday night dud, as the Oakland Raiders take on the San Francisco 49ers.

The 49ers are a 3-point favorite at Bovada Sportsbook, which doesn’t bode well as they are 1-12 against the spread in their last 13 games as a favorite. San Francisco is also 1-5 ATS in its last six at home, while Oakland is 1-10 straight up and 3-7-1 ATS in its last 11 games.

On Sunday, AFC North rivals clash when the Baltimore Ravens host the Pittsburgh Steelers as a 3-point favorite. Baltimore is 1-3 SU and ATS in its last four and at home is 4-6 ATS in the last 10. In Week 4 the Ravens defeated the Steelers 26-14 as a 3-point underdog. Including that game, Pittsburgh is 1-6-1 ATS in its last eight vs the Ravens.

Undefeated Rams are underdogs in the Big Easy

In the game of the week, the undefeated Los Angeles Rams face the New Orleans Saints as 1.5-point road underdogs. The Rams are only 2-12 SU and 2-11-1 ATS in their last 14 as an underdog, and they’re 4-3-1 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Saints have won five straight ATS, but they’re 1-3 SU and ATS in their last four vs the Rams.

The Kansas City Chiefs are a 9-point road favorite this week vs the Cleveland Browns. The Chiefs had a seven-game ATS winning streak snapped last week, and as a road favorite they’re 11-3 ATS in their last 14. Cleveland cleared house after dropping to 1-4 SU and 2-3 ATS in its last five last week. The Browns are a surprising 5-1 ATS in their last six vs Kansas City.

The red-hot Houston Texans are a surprising pick’em this week vs the Denver Broncos. Houston has won five straight but is only 3-2 ATS during that streak. The Texans are also a tough bet on the road at 2-9 SU and 5-6 ATS in their last 11. The Broncos have won three straight ATS and they’re 3-1 SU and ATS in their last four vs Houston.

On Monday night this week, two teams returning from their bye weeks square off when the Dallas Cowboys host the Tennessee Titans as a 6.5-point favorite. The Titans have lost three straight at 1-2 ATS, and coming off their bye week they’re 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight. The Cowboys are 3-3 SU and 2-4 ATS in their last six as a home favorite, but they’re 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games after their bye.
