TNF Betting Preview: Falcons at Buccaneers

The Atlanta Falcons will be looking to enact some revenge on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when the NFC South division foes clash on Thursday Night Football.

The Falcons and Buccaneers met up in Atlanta in Week 1 when Tampa Bay delivered a 31-24 win as a 2.5-point underdog. The win was the Buccaneers' third straight against the Falcons both straight up and against the spread.

Jameis Winston had his best game of the season in the win with four touchdown passes. Matt Ryan countered with a pair of touchdown tosses for Atlanta. Mike Evans had five receptions for 99 yards and a TD for Tampa Bay, while Atlanta’s Julio Jones hauled in four passes for 66 yards and a TD.

In Thursday night’s rematch the Falcons are listed as a 3.5-point road favorite at online sportsbook Bovada.

Heading into the rematch the Buccaneers are 3-4 SU and ATS on the season. Last week they lost to the Oakland Raiders 30-24 in overtime as a pick’em. Winston passed for 180 yards with a pair of touchdowns against Oakland, and Jacquizz Rodgers rushed for 69 yards and a TD on 19 carries.

Atlanta edged the Green Bay Packers 33-32 as a 3-point favorite last week. Ryan continued his big season with 288 yards passing and three touchdowns. Devonta Freeman had a touchdown run and reception, and Jones had a quiet night by his standards with only three catches for 29 yards.

The Falcons are 4-1 SU and a perfect 5-0 ATS in their last five games on the road. As a road favorite the Falcons haven’t been reliable. In their last five when favored on the road the Falcons are 3-2 SU and 1-4 ATS. In their last 10 as a road favorite Atlanta is 2-7-1 ATS.

The Buccaneers are horrible at home, having lost five straight both SU and ATS. In their last 20 home games Tampa Bay has only three wins and they’re 5-15 ATS. Not surprisingly, as a home underdog the Bucs are 1-9 SU and 3-7 ATS in their last 10.

In their last seven visits to Tampa Bay the Falcons are 4-3 SU and 3-3-1 ATS. When the Falcons are favored in Tampa Bay it’s a different story. In their last six road games against the Buccaneers as the favorite Atlanta is a perfect 6-0 SU and 5-0-1 ATS.
