UFC on ESPN 9 Betting Preview

After a successful return to the Octagon last weekend, the UFC delivers another event to an empty arena in Jacksonville, Florida, on Wednesday night with UFC on ESPN 9: Smith vs Teixeira.

The main event is a light heavyweight bout between Anthony Smith and Glover Teixeira. At Bovada Sportsbook, Smith is a -185 favorite and Teixeira a +150 underdog.

Smith is 4-1 in his last five fights. His overall record stands at 33-14 with 17 wins by knockout and 12 by submission. He last fought at UFC Fight Night 153 in June when he defeated Alexander Gustafsson by fourth-round submission as a +210 underdog.

Teixeira is also 4-1 in his last five fights and overall stands at 30-7 with 17 wins by KO and eight by submission. His last fight was at UFC Fight Night 158 in September, defeating Nikita Krylov by split decision as a -200 favorite.

Saint Preux favored over Rothwell in heavyweight tilt

Also on the main card Wednesday night is a heavyweight bout featuring Ben Rothwell and Ovince Saint Preux. At Bovada, Saint Preux is a -150 favorite and Rothwell a +120 underdog.

Saint Preux is 24-13 with 11 wins by KO and eight by submission. He is 2-3 in his last five fights and last fought in September at UFC Fight Night 160 where he defeated Michal Oleksiejczuk by second-round submission as a +190 underdog.

Rothwell is 37-12 with 28 wins by KO and six by submission. He snapped a three-fight losing streak in his last fight at UFC on ESPN 7 in December when he defeated Stefan Struve by second-round TKO as a -160 favorite.

Dober, Hernandez square off in lightweight class

One other notable matchup on the main card Wednesday is a lightweight bout between Alexander Hernandez and Drew Dober. At Bovada, Dober is a -125 favorite and Hernandez a -105 underdog.

Dober is 5-1 in his last six fights, improving his record to 22-9 and one no contest, with nine wins by KO and six by submission. He last fought at UFC 246 in January, defeating Nasrat Haqparast by first-round KO as a +250 underdog.

Hernandez is 11-2 with four wins by KO and two by submission. He last fought at UFC on ESPN 4 in July when he defeated Francisco Trinaldo by unanimous decision as a +250 underdog.
