MLB Betting: Indians Set to Face Lowly Marlins

The Cleveland Indians should be road favorites on the baseball betting lines on Tuesday night when they send starting pitcher Trevor Bauer up against the MLB-worst Miami Marlins.

Bauer (3-1, 1.99 ERA) will be countered by Sandy Alcantara (1-2, 4.50 ERA) for the Marlins. Bauer is coming off a strong outing against the Houston Astros in which he posted a win after allowing one run on four hits over eight innings. Cleveland won 2-1 as a +140 underdog at the Bovada Sportsbook.

Alcantara faced the Indians in his last start, a no decision in which he surrendered two runs on four hits in five innings. Miami lost 6-2 as a +140 underdog. Miami will head into Tuesday having lost three straight and four of its last six. At home this season they are 5-11.

Last week the Indians and Marlins split a short two-game series in Cleveland. Including those games the Indians are 6-1 in their last seven against the Marlins and 4-1 in their last five in Miami.

Slumping Pirates on the road at the Rangers

Also on tap Tuesday night, the slumping Pittsburgh Pirates will try to snap their lengthy losing streak when they visit the Texas Rangers. Pittsburgh is scheduled to start Jordan Lyles (2-1, 2.05 ERA), while Texas is expected to go with Adrian Sampson (0-1, 4.50 ERA).

The Pirates have lost eight straight following series sweeps at the hands of the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Lyles lost to Arizona is his last start after allowing five runs on eight hits in five innings. He’s had bad luck against Texas in his career with a 1-5 record and an 8.15 ERA in nine starts.

Sampson will be coming out of the bullpen to start Tuesday. This season he’s made six appearances, four out of the bullpen and two as a starter. His last start came on April 20 against Houston when he posted a no decision after allowing two runs on seven hits in 4 1-3 innings. Texas won 9-4 as a +230 underdog.

Yankees, D-Backs set for meeting in Phoenix

Finally on Tuesday, one other notable interleague matchup sees the surging New York Yankees visit the Arizona Diamondbacks. CC Sabathia (1-0, 2.40 ERA) will start for New York, and Merrill Kelly (2-2, 3.94 ERA) will get the ball for Arizona.

Despite a ton of injuries New York has won nine of its last 10 games. Sabathia is coming off a no decision against the Los Angeles Angels in which he was roughed up for five runs on six hits in five innings. New York won 6-5 as a -120 betting favorite.

Kelly looked good in a win over the Pirates in his last start. He held Pittsburgh to two runs on six hits in seven innings in an 11-2 Arizona win as a +100 underdog.

Arizona has struggled at home lately at 2-6 in its last eight games. Against the Yankees they’re 4-8 in their last 12 and they are 3-4 in their last seven at home against them.
