Recap - UTEP Defeats Rice 65-64
UTEP got 24 points from Nigel Hawkins as they ran past Rice 65-64 on Saturday at Don Haskins Center.
UTEP did not, however, defeat Rice against the spread, which closed at -5.0 at most sportsbooks.
Jordan Lathon had 17 points for UTEP and Evan Gilyard chipped in with 12 points. Jordan Lathon had 5 assists for them, while Efe Odigie was the team's top rebounder, grabbing 9 boards.
Rice got a 15-point performance from Jack Williams, who was supported by 14 points from Robert Martin. Quentin Millora-Brown had 3 assists in a losing cause for Rice, while Robert Martin grabbed 12 rebounds.
UTEP was losing at the break before taking care of business in the second half.
