Winthrop got 15 points from Hunter Hale en route to a 67-57 victory over Hartford on Thursday at Chase Family Arena.
Winthrop got 14 points from Kyle Zunic and another 12 points from Josh Ferguson. Russell Jones contributed 6 assists, while Josh Ferguson cleaned the glass with 11 rebounds.
Hartford got 15 points from Miroslav Stafl in a losing cause and another 12 points from Hunter Marks. Traci Carter contributed 4 assists for them, while Hunter Marks had 7 rebounds.
Winthrop led at halftime, 34-29.
Winthrop won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 42-32.
