UAB grabbed a 75-63 win over Montevallo on Saturday, behind a 16-point effort from Tamell Pearson at Bartow Arena.
Jalen Benjamin had 14 points for UAB and Kassim Nicholson chipped in with 10 points. Tyreek Scott-Grayson had 9 assists for them, while Makhtar Gueye was the team's top rebounder, grabbing 7 boards.
Montevallo got a 14-point performance from Ivan Smith, who was supported by 12 points from Xavier Malcom. Xavier Malcom had 4 assists in a losing cause for Montevallo, while Cedric Jackson grabbed 6 rebounds.
UAB was winning at the break before taking care of business in the second half.
UAB won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 31-30.
