Nicholls State got 17 points from Dexter McClanahan en route to a 61-52 victory over Lamar on Wednesday at Montagne Center.
Nicholls State got 16 points from Andre Jones and another 9 points from Warith Alatishe. Andre Jones contributed 3 assists, while Warith Alatishe cleaned the glass with 7 rebounds.
Lamar got a 13-point performance from Ellis Jefferson, who was supported by 11 points from T.J. Atwood. Ellis Jefferson had 7 assists in a losing cause for Lamar, while T.J. Atwood grabbed 11 rebounds.
Nicholls State was winning at the break before taking care of business in the second half.
Nicholls State won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 34-31.
