Winthrop vs Hampton Final: 116-95 - Recap
The battle between Winthrop and Hampton didnt turn out to be much of a battle at all as Hampton was handed a 116-95 defeat on Thursday at Hampton Convocation Center.
D.J. Burns had 22 points for Winthrop and Josh Ferguson chipped in with 20 points. Chandler Vaudrin had 7 assists for them, while Josh Ferguson was the team's top rebounder, grabbing 13 boards.
Hampton got a 30-point performance from Jermaine Marrow, who was supported by 27 points from Ben Stanley. Jermaine Marrow had 7 assists in a losing cause for Hampton, while Greg Heckstall grabbed 10 rebounds.
Winthrop led at halftime, 58-54.
Winthrop had a 45-21 advantage in the rebounding department as they won the battle in the paint.
Winthrop heads into a battle against Radford. Hampton, meanwhile, will have their next action against UNC Asheville.
