Rutgers Falls 85-80 to Iowa - Recap
Rutgers was victimized for 28 points and 13 rebounds by Luka Garza as Iowa defeated them 85-80 in NCAA action on Wednesday.
Iowa did not, however, defeat Rutgers against the spread, which closed at -5.5 at most sportsbooks.
Iowa got 18 points from Joe Wieskamp and another 14 points from Joe Toussaint. Joe Wieskamp contributed 4 assists, while Luka Garza cleaned the glass with 13 rebounds.
Rutgers got a 29-point performance from Ron Harper Jr., who was supported by 17 points from Akwasi Yeboah. Caleb McConnell had 5 assists in a losing cause for Rutgers, while Ron Harper Jr. grabbed 9 rebounds.
Iowa trailed at halftime, 43-39.
Iowa had a 36-28 advantage in the rebounding department as they won the battle in the paint.
Iowa heads into a battle against Wisconsin. Rutgers, meanwhile, will have their next action against Nebraska.
