Winthrop Falls 89-65 Against Auburn - Game Recap
The battle between Auburn and Winthrop didn’t turn out to be much of a battle at all as Winthrop was handed a 89-65 defeat on Tuesday at Neville Arena.
Auburn got 18 points from Johni Broome and another 16 points from Wendell Green Jr.. Wendell Green Jr. contributed 5 assists, while Johni Broome cleaned the glass with 13 rebounds.
Winthrop got 18 points from Toneari Lane in a losing cause and another 16 points from Kelton Talford. Sin'Cere McMahon contributed 3 assists for them, while Kelton Talford had 14 rebounds.
Auburn was winning at the break before taking care of business in the second half.
Auburn had a 51-32 advantage in the rebounding department as they won the battle in the paint.
Auburn heads into a battle against Texas Southern. Winthrop, meanwhile, will have their next action against Mercer.
