Recap - Akron Defeats Western Michigan 63-55
Xavier Castaneda went off for 32 points and added 7 rebounds leading Akron to a 63-55 win over Western Michigan on Saturday at University Arena in Read Fieldhouse.
Akron was a favorite by -7.5 points and came through with an ATS victory for bettors.
Akron got 9 points from Greg Tribble and another 8 points from Sammy Hunter. Greg Tribble contributed 4 assists, while Enrique Freeman cleaned the glass with 11 rebounds.
Western Michigan got 18 points from Markeese Hastings in a losing cause and another 8 points from Jefferson Monegro. Lamar Norman Jr. contributed 6 assists for them, while Markeese Hastings had 10 rebounds.
Akron was winning at the break before taking care of business in the second half.
Western Michigan won the battle of the boards, outrebounding their counterparts 38-29.
Akron heads into a battle against Miami-Ohio. Western Michigan, meanwhile, will have their next action against Ohio.
